Situated on the shores of Lake Kariba between the Senkwe and Muenda rivers lies the Chete Gorge Camp. Lake Kariba offers superb Hippo and Crocodile viewing and the rugged hinterland is thick with Buffalo, Leopard, Elephant and other Plainsgame.
Chete is not heavily populated with a diverse Antelope population although certain species are in abundance such as Kudu, Klipspringer and Impala. The rugged, hilly country has meant that the area has not been well developed in terms of roads and those on safari must be prepared to walk in order to fully appreciated what the area has to offer.
Chete Gorge Camp is situated on a high cliff overlooking the Chete Gorge, where the lake narrows and follows the old path of the Zambezi River of years gone by. Comprising of 4 thatched chalets, all with bathroom en-suite, overhead fan and electricity. There is a large dining room, kitchen and a small plunge pool that provides welcome relief during the oppressive Zambezi Valley heat later in the year.
