The holiday resort village of Umhlanga Rocks is a village-turned-town, where local and international visitors flock to all year round to relax and have fun.
It is located on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world on the east coast of South Africa and is known to be a friendly seaside community.
Umhlanga Rocks is any ocean fanatics dream destination for it boasts an array of tropical fish and coral reefs that wrap along the coastline, making it a scuba divers and snorkelers paradise. Surfers flock to the warm Indian Ocean waters of Umhlanga which is home to many incredible surf spots as well as long stretches of golden sandy beaches that cloak the town with more than 200 kilometres of beach northwards, towards the Isimangaliso Wetland Park, a world heritage site.
Besides the perfectly tranquil seaside holiday destination, Umhlanga Rocks offers more than just pristine beaches. It is home to one of South Africa’s last drive-in’s that is frequented by locals and visitors from all walks of life; a place where nostalgia ebbs, luring you in with its charm. If re-living the past is not your thing, then head to the iconic Gateway mall – the largest shopping centre in the Southern hemisphere. More than just a shopping centre, Gateway mall entertains indoor and outdoor activities ranging from movie theatres, an iMax theatre, a wave pool and a skate park that was designed by the legendary Tony Hawk. In addition to this, you can find a climbing wall, an amusement arcade, night clubs, restaurants of plenty, adventure drives among other activities.
Umhlanga is also well-known for The Umhlanga Lighthouse; a picturesque view that is often thought of when considering Kwazulu-Natal. The lighthouse was built in 1954, stands 21m high and has a focal plane height of 25m. A favourite past time activity is to pack a picnic basket and to explore Umhlanga’s lighthouse while enjoying tasty treats.

What a beautiful Lodge, excellent service (5 star), location is one of the best in this country. We received outstanding service from a team that exceeded every need we had as a family. The breakfast is outstanding and they catered for my children's needs which included items not on the normal breakfast menu.
