Rondebosch is primarily a residential area in the southern suburbs of Cape Town and is highly sought after for its central location.
Offering incredible views of Table Mountain, tree-lined streets with classic Victorian homes and beautiful architecture, Rondebosch is a highly sought after suburb in the mother city. With good schools, nice houses with large enough properties, well-maintained streets and many new developments, being so centrally located to the city bowl, UCT and big tourist attractions, this area is ideal from which to explore all that Cape Town has to offer.
Rondebosch has a relatively important history in the development of Cape Town. It was the first permanent piece of landed issued in Africa by Jan Van Riebeeck who named the area after a bunch of thorn trees – ‘Het Ronde Doornbosje’ which eventually lead to the name, Rondebosch, over time. The Rondebosch Common is one of the last remaining pieces of land that still exists today and is a National Monument. The Groote Schuur Hospital is also in Rondebosch where the world’s first heart transplant took place. Table Mountain’s Devils Peak trail starts in Rondebosch and is one of the most challenging hikes with panoramic views.
Besides this stretch of open land that locals utilise for exercising, Rondebosch is home to many other attractions such as the spectacular Kirstenbosch Gardens – which is but a short distance away, Mostert’s Mill – a windmill and the Presidential Home where the ‘Groote Schuur Minute’ was signed by both Nelson Mandela and FW de Klerk which lead to a democratic South Africa. Rondebosch Fountains lie in the centre of this suburb, a beautiful place to visit and to pick flowers and have a picnic with loved ones. The Baxter and Artscape Theatres are also located in this suburb and feature world-famous productions. Rondebosch also hosts a 5km Park Run every Saturday morning

What a beautiful Lodge, excellent service (5 star), location is one of the best in this country. We received outstanding service from a team that exceeded every need we had as a family. The breakfast is outstanding and they catered for my children's needs which included items not on the normal breakfast menu.
