Windhoek & Surrounds occupy the central part of Namibia known as the Khomas Region. The region sits on a plain known as the Khomas Hochland. The capital city of Namibia is also the financial centre of the country. The surrounding area includes towns like Okahandja and Gobabis and has many game farms that offer game viewing.
The central interior of Namibia consists mainly of rolling hills. Windhoek surrounded by the Auas Mountains in the South and the Eros mountains in the East. The area is mostly utilized for cattle farming and there are smaller livestock also being farmed. The region is semi-dessert and days can get quite hot.
The great thing about Windhoek is that it’s a modern city that is centrally located in Namibia. This creates the opportunity for visitors to travel throughout the entire country whilst using Windhoek ass their base.
