Road arrivals are possible via Gokwe/Siyakobvu, with 4x4 essential during the rainy season.
Travel by road to Tiger Bay is possible but should be undertaken in a 4 x 4 vehicle during the rainy season or a 4 x 2 raised body vehicle in the dry season. The two suggested routes are as follows:
1. At Kwekwe take the road to Gokwe (approximately 140kms) which is tarred. The road then branches off to Tiger Bay, Binga and Karoi through the communal lands when it becomes a dirt road – partly sandy with pot-holes for approximately 100 kms. This route is approximately 45kms longer than option
2. Take the turn-off at Karoi. This dirt road is constantly used by long-distance buses to the communal lands and is not in good condition and needs to be graded.
Both journeys take approximately 8 hours by road from Harare to Tiger Bay. The first route is preferred by our guests who undertake to travel the full distance by road. Please request a map and detailed instructions for option 1 if you decide to drive in.
For updated information on the condition of roads we suggest you contact the Ministry of Transport & Energy - maintenance department.
