Kanyemba Lodge Description
Nestled on the banks of the Zambezi, only 2 and a half hours from Lusaka, lies Kanyemba Lodge. The stone and thatch rondavels with en suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and large veranda, and a thatched “family house” are discreetly located on the river bank under the shadow of wild mangoes and huge sycamore figs. Built of natural materials, they blend in perfectly with the surroundings, providing extreme comfort in the warmer months and a very high level of privacy. Each chalet has its own private veranda overlooking the Zambezi River, where the wake up call is accompanied by early morning tea or coffee. Each chalet has been beautifully decorated using local art, and have stunning en-suite bathrooms. Overlooking the river, the restaurant and bar allow spacious dining, while upstairs, guests can relax and enjoy the extensive library with a view. Each evening guests are treated to Kanyemba Lodge's award winning cuisine of traditional Italian fare with the freshest and most typical local ingredients, under the branches of a giant Wild Mango Tree. Kanyemba also owns and operates a small, intimate Bushcamp on its own private Island. Activities include walking safaris , canoe safaris , boat safaris , angling – tigerfish , sunset cruises , village walks, game drives. Transfers from Lusaka or from any airstrip can be organised on request.
Kanyemba Lodge Directions
Head South out of Lusaka, travel for 146 kms though Kafue until you reach Chirundu (lots of trucks!!!). Turn left at the customs building, proceed on the dirt road for 12 kms, until you reach the pontoon crossing the Kafue river(operating hours 0600 – 1800hrs). Once you cross the pontoon (56,000 Kwacha one way for 4 x 4 vehicle), you keep right where the road forks, and continue for 11 kms. You will see the sign "KANYEMBA LODGE" on the right. Drive time approximately 2.5 hours
