HOW TO FIND THE OYSTERCATCHER LODGE FROM STELLENBOSCH/SOMERSET WEST Take the R304/302 via Malmesbury joining the N7. From the N7 turn left onto the R45 (via Hopefield) At the R27 (West Coast Road) crossroad, turn right (left takes one back to Cape Town). About 5km on turn left onto a 4km stretch of untarred road (sign says to St. Helena Bay). This will bring you to the R399 cross Road (right takes one to Velddrif and left takes you back to Vredenburg). Cross over the intersection and follow the road to Stompneus Bay via st. Helena Bay. NOTE: This route bypasses Vredenburg saving 20 km. However, if you need to go into Vredenburg itself or prefer a tar road, then cross over the intersection and travel 9 km to the town. Turn right at the first set of robots(i.e. the route to Velddrif) and approximately 9 km on, take a left turn to St Helena Bay. Travel 17km (in a westerly direction) passing the following landmarks: Laingville, St. Helena Hotel, Police Station, St. Helena Shopping Centre/Total petrol pumps, Da Gama Monument, gravel road to Paternoster/Vredenburg. Bypass the Stompneus Bay fishing village on the left (affectionately know as Smartie town, because of the brightly-painted roofs). At the end of this settlement turn left (signboards say Britannia Bay and Shelley Point, After 200 metres, turn right (big Shelley Point boards just in front of the road) travel along this road, until you arrive at the Shelley Point Gates on your right. Sign in at the gate and then pass through, continue on this road, passing the new club house on your left. After the four way stop, continue on straight until you reach the fountain, pass half way around the fountain and continue straight there will be thatch roof cottages on your left. Continue on until you see the Oystercatcher Lodge on your right. (NAME WRITTEN ON THE PORTE COCHERE ABOVE THE FRONT DOOR) FROM CAPE TOWN Take the R27 (West Coast road) via Milnerton/Melkbosstrand. Passing the turnoffs for Yzerfontein, Langebaan Saldanha. If you wish to take a tar road turn left at Vredenburg (follow directions above) or continue until you see St. Helena Bay turnoff (gravel road) follow directions above. FROM CAPE TOWN AIRPORT From the airport feed onto the N2 then take the 2nd offramp (Exit 14 onto the N7 to Goodwood/Malmesbury). Turn right over the N2 into Vanguard Drive. Bypass Grand West Casino, the suburbs of Goodwood/Edgemead/Bothasig (on your right) and Caltex Refinery (on your left). Take left turn at sign saying Melkbosstrand and come down to the robot intersection on the R27. Turn right onto R27 (West Coast road). Depending on whether you wish to go into Vredenburg or not, follow directions above. FROM THE NORTH From the N7 and outside the town of Piketberg, take the R399 road to Aurora/Velddrif. In the town of Velddrif - which runs along the Berg River - take a left turn at the fourway crossing over the bridge of the River and past Cerebos/National Salt Works. Take next right hand turn (R399) heading to Vredenburg/St Helena Bay. Approximately 8 km on take right turn (in westerly direction) to Stompneusbaai via St Helena Bay Follow instructions further as above. Gps Co-ordinates S 32� 42? 05.9? E 17� 58? 05.6?
