Macnut Lodge is an exclusive boutique guest lodge situated in the Assagay valley. This beautiful lodge is nestled along the banks of the Umhlatuzana river and forms part of the Madwala Conservancy, with abundant fauna and flora. The 800 meters of river-front and two waterfalls on the property provide a peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating environment. Set in 7 acres of gardens, paddocks, koi ponds and pristine open spaces, the lodge offers home from home comforts with touches of warmth and elegance. We are situated half way between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, just off the N3 and M13, 40kms from Durban Airport, 30 kms from Durban beaches and casinos and 40kms from Pietermaritzburg. The shopping centres of Hillcrest are only five minutes away with the larger Pavilion and Gateway centres respectively, 20 and 40 minutes drive away. The Thousand Hills Tourism route is on our doorstep and the famous Midlands Meander tourist attractions starts within an hour’s drive.

Whether you are coming from Durban or Pietermaritzburg be sure to take the Shongweni / Assagay / Hillcrest turn off. This is known as Kassier Rd however it is poorly marked but it is nevertheless the road you must turn into from the highway. It runs from Shongweni, over both highways, through to Old Main Rd. Remain on Kassier Road for about 3,5km and at the robots (traffic lights) turn left into Old Main Road. The road is a steep and winding road, which you follow for about 3km passing the Sugar Loaf Centre, the Fainting Goat Centre, Kearsney College school, an Engen Petrol filling station (all on your left hand side). Shortly after the Filling station, the road becomes very windy. Drive slowly so you don’t miss the sharp left turn down into Lello Road. The road is immediately before the Heidie Farm Stall complex and 1000 Hills Bird Park. Continue down Lello Road for approximately 1,5 km. You will see Macnut Farm on your left-hand side at the 3rd storm water ditch. Welcome to our beautiful Lodge in the Valley!
