The Lighthouse Inn Bed & Breakfast / Self Cater venue is a charming home situated in Durban on the Bluff, KwaZulu, Natal the holiday Mecca of South Africa and is better known as the Kingdom of the Zulus. Bookings On-Line The venue offers affordable and realistic rates with a warm and friendly atmosphere and one can consider it to be your home away from-home either as Business or family vacations guests. For large groups wanting to book the entire venue the Lighthouse Inn B & B doubles as a self cater unit which we call the Lodge. The facility can cater for 30 guests from the equipped Kitchen. We can accommodate your groups of up to 26 guests each requiring a bed and accommodated in the following bedrooms and individual units while sharing and have the option to self cater or to include breakfasts as B & B guests. Included is the use of the Lounge, Sunroom, Dining Room, Fully tiled Bathroom (Bath, Shower, Toilet and Basin) as well as a large Covered Balcony with a panoramic Bay and City Views, day and night and meals can be catered here as well as in the dining room. The Lodge has the following sleeping accommodation within: The “Aqua Room” (sleeps 2 or 3 guests sharing with a double and a single bed) and in the other bedroom being the “Blue Room” (sleeps 2 persons sharing with a double bed) and in the “Sun Room there is a Tri-bed (sleeps 3 guests with double and a single above.) Besides the Lodge S/Cater unit described above there are another 5 self cater Units and are as follows: 1) The “Loft Suite” (sleeps 3 or 4 guests sharing with a double on the lower level and 2 single beds up a short stairway to a mezzanine floor with 2 single beds.) 2) The “Coral Suite” (sleeps 3 guests sharing with a double and a single bed.) 3) The “Dolphin Suite” (sleeps 6 guests sharing with 2 bedrooms having 2 and 4 single beds.) these 3 units above have an en suite bathrooms with and are equipped to self cater or the B & B option and all have covered porches and mobile BBQ’s. 4) The “Cabin” a wood constructed unit (sleeps 3 guests sharing with double bunk and a single bed.) However, there is no bathroom added as yet and is planned for the near future and guests are to use the Double Ablutions having 2 Showers and 2 separate Toilets and Basins just up some stairs from this unit as well as the kitchenette alongside. 5) The “Cottage” a wood constructed inner panelled unit (sleeps 4 or 8 guests sharing with 4 brand new double fold out sleeper couches being a large 8m x 4m room complete with electrical facilities for Tea/Coffee and basic self cater or B & B option. However, there is no bathroom added as yet and is planned for the near future and guests are to use the Double Ablutions having 2 Showers and 2 separate Toilets and Basins just up some stairs from this unit. Bedding is supplied in all Units/rooms and is refreshed daily and changed every 3 days or as requested. The general amenities available to guests are as follows: Snooker table, 2 x Darts and Boards, Swimming Pool, Mobile Braai’s and the gardens. We advise you to bring your own towels and personal toiletries when self catering and is included as a B & B guest.
AREA INFORMATION
Herewith some information, we are within a 2 to 5min drive to our 3 local Beaches, 3 Shopping Centres, many quality Restaurants, Pubs and the like. All amenities are available locally. Durban City Centre, The ICC, uShaka Marine World and the main Durban Beaches are less than a 15 minutes drive. Durban itself is a lively and bustling Metropolis with anything from Museums, Theatres, Movie Houses to Night Clubs, Jazz and Classical music Restaurants, Revolving Restaurants and many other venues of note, Durban International Airport is a 10 minute drive. 20 to 25 minutes drive on the N2 and you are in Umhlanga with Gateway Shopping Centre just before or take the N3 and you are at the Pavilion within 15 minutes. Either way Port Shepstone/ Margate to the South Coast or Ballito/Richards Bay to the North, both are just over an hour and a half’s drive with many off-ramps to small towns and villages of various places of interest along the many Freeways mentioned. So, come stay, come play, come explore KZN and its shore, but I tell you, there is much, much more. To mention, the Midlands Meander, the Drakensberg Mountains, the Drakensberg Choir, the Red Desert, Lion Park, Crock World, many famous Battle Fields, the Midmar, Albert Falls, Hazelmere and Inanda dams, Adventure activities available: Durban’s 1st and only Shark Cage Diving facility, Bay & Deep Sea Fishing, Diving: Free dive (Snorkels, Flippers and Goggles supplied or Tanks and all equipment, Spear Fishing at top spots, Dolphin and Whale watching and can be booked with me or through our 2 sons business called Go Hard Shark Cage Diving and Ocean Adventures.

Directions from the N3 Highway after Pinetown On the main N3 Highway you will pass a signboard indicating Spine Rd. and The Pavilion. Once you have passed this signboard, still on the main N3 highway, continue down to the next Interchange. You should move into the 2nd from left lane and continue to the bottom of the hill where the road sweeps to the right. At this point you will see a signboard N2 North Coast and South Coast which is a short double lane Interchange which splits to the left (North) and right (South). You should be in the right hand lane of this Interchange and merge into the N2 South Coast / Durban Int. Airport Freeway. Continue on this Freeway for approximately 4 Km to the next off-ramp and be in the left lane to take this off-ramp which has a signboard indicating Edwin Swales VC Drive / M7 / Queensburgh. Move into the left lane down this off-ramp to turn left at the Traffic Light Intersection taking you into Edwin Swales VC Drive / M7. Continue on Edwin Swales VC Drive / M7 for approximately 4Km passing through 7 Traffic Light Intersections. Once past this 7th Traffic Light Intersection move over to the left lane and head to the Junction at the end of Edwin Swales VC Drive / M7. Proceed left through this Junction, which has a yield sign for traffic entering into Bluff Rd. Proceed with Bluff Rd through the next Traffic Light Intersection. Continue up the hill past the Steers, and KFC outlets being on your left and through the kink past KFC and up the hill for approximately 1 Km to the top of this hill, through the Traffic Light Intersection. Here you will pass a High Water Tower, a Spar and a Video outlet on your right. Continue straight and down the hill keeping in the right hand lane. At the bottom you must veer right at the Circle where you will enter Lighthouse Rd. Continue down to and through the Traffic Light Intersection where the road curves to the left just past the traffic lights. Proceed along Lighthouse Rd for approximately 300m to the next Junction where Lighthouse Rd makes a 90o right hand bend, you have right of way through this bend and must now continue straight for 100m to where Lighthouse Rd makes another 90o left hand bend. At this point you are still on lighthouse Road and must now travel up this hill for about 300m to No 563 to Lighthouse Inn which is on the left.
