Clairewood Description
Clairewood is a place of quiet contemplation, where silence and solitude is measured by the harmony and tranquility of the Outeniqua Mountains and surrounding indigenous forest which provides habitat to nearly 200 species of birds and wildlife such as monkeys, bushbuck, porcupine, bushpig and occasional otters. Our accommodation is the epitome of luxury combining quality and simple refinement. We have two well designed serviced self catering units each with two cozy bedrooms; king-size or twin (sleeps 4 per unit). Bath towels and cotton percale linen are provided. Each unit has a stylish bathroom with shower and bath facilities and an open plan well equipped modern kitchen with oven, microwave and refrigerator. Tea, coffee and sugar are provided. The lounge with leather couches, satellite television and fireplace has breathtaking views of the lush green surrounding hills and nearby Outeniqua Mountains and leads through stack-away doors to the patio with built-in barbeque and wooden patio furniture. Facilities on site include a swimming pool, tennis court and walking trail through the indigenous forest that meander along the banks of the Silver River.

Wilderness lies 15 km east of George, on the Cape Garden Route between the Kaaimans River and the Goukamma Nature Reserve. It is renowned for its vast stretches of beach, tranquility and the absence of windswept wetlands, wild and stormy seas. Wilderness overlooks not only the sea, but also the placid lagoon, the Serpentine, which meanders between the Touws River, Island Lake, Langvlei and Rondevlei. Island Lake is a favourite water sport venue. Encompassed within the boundaries of Wilderness one finds the 2500 ha Wilderness National Park. Five rivers and five lakes, two estuaries and 18 km of Southern Cape coastline are protected within the Park. This rare and sensitive eco-system is home to a wealth of water birds. Clairewood Directions
Take first Wilderness turn-off from the N2 towards Knysna at Caltex garage. Pass shops and restaurants. Pass Protea Hotel on the left. Turn left at T-junction and follow road up the hill (Heights Road). Pass Bundu Store on the right. Turn left into Silver River Street at the brown Clairewood sign on the right.
