Etango Ranch Guest Farm Description
Etango Ranch Guest Farm is situated just 5 minutes' drive from Windhoek International Airport, making it an ideal start and finish point for international visitors touring the country, as well as transit passengers with a few hours to while away, or those with an early flight. Windhoek Airport is 45km east of Windhoek itself. Although close to the airport, the Ranch is not disturbed by airport noise and remains a tranquil rural base for a short or long stay. It is run by two generations of the Grellmann family, with the help of trained, friendly and competent staff. Etango is a working cattle and sheep ranch covering 4,300 hectares forming part of the 125,000ha Namatanga Conservancy - an area of unrivalled bio-diversity where mountains, Kalahari Sand, and Central Highland eco-systems overlap. It's also a well known birding 'hotspot'. The farm is home to 250 free-roaming SIMBRA cattle and 200 Damara sheep which may occasionally be seen if you wander the ranch. At the farmhouse there are often geese, ducks, chickens and pigeons - always favourites with children and animal lovers alike, especially at feeding time. Children can also pet bottle-fed calves, sheep or hand-raised ostriches. With more than 30 years combined experience in tourism, the Grellmann family members are proud of their dedicated and personal service to their visitors and they are delighted to provide masses of information on where to go, what to do - and not to do - on Namibia and its diverse population - in fact anything to make their Guests' visit more relaxed and enjoyable. Three Bungalows each comprising Two Twin/Double Rooms • Spacious rooms with extra large beds • En-suite facilities with large shower • Air-conditioned • Good lighting • Two luggage racks • Coffee/tea making facilities • Verandah with pathways to the communal open fireplace • Comfortable communal lounge/dining room with bar • Sparkling splash pool in a lawn surrounded by plants and trees The Kraal Complex comprising Six Self-Contained Rondawels • Standard furnishings • No air-conditioning ♦ The Rondawels (traditional African style round huts with thatched roofs) are ideal for weekend equestrian visitors and mountain climbers/bikers. They also serve as accommodation for our Educational Centre which offers residential courses to local students.
