The Brandberg Restcamp, familiarly known as the BRC is located in the village of UIS some 320 km from Windhoek. It is located 180 km from Swakopmund en-route to the Etosha Game reserve. The BRC was originally built as the Uis Tin Mine Recreation club but has since been converted into a rest camp situated approximately 30 km from the foot of the Brandberg. The Brandberg is the highest mountain in Namibia and is famous for the White Lady and other Bushman paintings as well as its diverse geology and is situated in the southern part of rural, unspoilt Damaraland. Managed by Mr Basil Calitz, one of the owners, the BRC is now in operation since June 2006 and has since establish itself as a warm-hearted oasis in the near desert and has a growing family of BRC friends who can attest to the enjoyment and memories that a trip to the BRC will bring. The mountain is very popular for hikers doing 3 to 5 day hikes. Hiking and other guides are arranged on request. The Brandberg Area is popular for its unspoilt beauty, Desert Elephant, herds of Zebra and Springbok roaming free in the wild. Crystals can be bought directly from local small miners making a living from selling these crystals.

ACCOMMODATION Accommodation facilities include 4 double en-suite poolside rooms, 5 self-catering 6 bed chalets and 20 camp sites. The 5 self-catering chalets can be configured into 5 double en-suite rooms adjoining 5 double rooms with a family kitchen, breakfast nook, a living room which can sleep 2 – 4 children and own bathroom facilities. RESTAURANT The restaurant provides breakfast from 07h00 to 09h30, snacks (hamburgers, toasted sandwiches, chips) from 10h00 to 17h00 and dinners from 18h00. Early or late meals, lunch packs or other specific meal requirements can be accommodated by prior arrangement. BAR The BRC has a fully serviced bar which provides a wide selection of beverages to cater to the tastes of the travelers and guests who pass through or who come to stay and enjoy the hospitality of our oasis at the doorway to Damaraland. SWIMMINGPOOL A very special feature of the BRC is the largest privately owned swimming pool in Damaraland and the Kaokoveld, at a size of 25 x 12m the swimming pool is situated next to the breakfast lapa / entertainment area which provides a wonderful opportunity for guests and visitors to cool off and relax or, for the younger guest to enjoy all kinds of water frolics. POOL & SNOOKER The BRC has a full sized Snooker table with spectator seating. An L-shaped pool table is available in the bar for relaxation
