The elegant double storied house situated on the farm Van Wyksfontein, is nestled against protective Karoo koppies. The house built in 1870 is 28km north of Colesberg. A stream runs past the house. This fountain water is constant and feeds irrigable lands further down. Trees shade its course and a row of giant Cypress trees stand formerly in the front garden. The rooms of Van Wyksfontein house are large and beautifully proportioned. The atmosphere is different from usual Karoo homesteads as the hall and stairwell are hung with large Game Trophies.
